Our Thoughts

For time away in Somerset, Shire House has exactly what a couple wants in a holiday home. It has rustic touches, like stone walls and beams, but is fitted with all the mod cons of the 21st-century.

A dog is welcome here so you can all go away together and explore the great places to walk nearby. Longport has a lovely river where you can stroll for hours on end, and at Glastonbury, the Tor offers a hike to the top if you long for a challenge. For a trip to the seaside, head to Minehead, you can get there by car or steam train.

And if you love a castle, then there are several to choose from including Dunster, Sherborne and the Bishop’s Palace in Wells.
